Summer Activities

Traidcraft has lots of ideas to brighten up the summer term. Why not take part in one of these activities?

- A 'Great Fairtrade Bake Off' -
Follow recipes from Traidcraft's 'Bake A Difference' cookbook and source your ingredients with a School Account and receive lovely discounts. Hold the Bake Off as part of a food technology lesson or encourage young people and teachers to bake at home and bring in their cakes for the judging! You can read a full guide ofr holding your Fair Trade Bake Off here.

- Get Involved in Traidcraft Week -
Get your school involved with Traidcraft Week (20th - 26th  June), and help to show young people that fair trade is an everyday option! Everyone deserves to be paid fairly, and unless fair trade becomes an everyday commodity it'll sadly disappear.

You could encouage your school to use fair trade Clean & Fair cleaning products, get fair trade refreshments in your staffroom (lovely tea and roasted ground coffee anyone?), or or provide Traidcraft treats and healthy snacks in the lunch hall.Visit the Traidcraft shop to order, and new schools can open an account here.

Search this site for acitvities or lesson plans to talk about Traidcraft Week in the classroom, or you could even invite a Traidcraft speaker to teach teachers as well as pupils about fair trade! OUr volunteers are based all over the UK, and would love to enthuse your class or assembly.

- Unfair Sports Day -
An unfair sports day or olympics is a great way to enjoy the summer weather, get some exercise and get the message across about unfair trade rules too. If you're already having a sports day why not include a few unfair elements, like an unfair tug of war or game of football? You could even offer Fairtrade Orange Juice on the side lines to help get the message across.

- Trainers4Trainers -
Raise money for school or a cause of your choice with a non-uniform day! Download the information pack here, and request your extra resources by contacting us at We'll email them straight to you!

Have a look at the "Games and Activities" section for more information. You could even put together a Fairtrade display in school; Traidcraft is happy to supply images, posters and leaflets - have a look at the resources section on our web shop or download producer stories and pictures here.
